CASITA’S HIBERNATION AND RENAISSANCE

CASITA’S HIBERNATION AND RENAISSANCE

Today is our last day running Casita out of its current location at 357 Boston Post Road in Sudbury. In many ways this space has been a dream. I have looked at this historic store front since I was a kid – one of the only shops in town with a huge display window – and I am so honored that Kevin and I got to be a part of this building’s history. When I was little there were so many unique stores in this town. Active Ingredients, Native Sun, Carmen’s Veranda, Irresistibles, a quilting shop, Hearthstone Bakery etc. And I am so glad that I got to be another one on that list. We have made countless friends, and met many design clients through this space – and it has made what felt like a very large town feel small to me again. And that is priceless.

I have spent the last 5 Christmases helping curate gifts for friends and the last 6 months doing door to door delivery to bring a bit of Casita to you all in a safe and contactless way. My youngest daughter was in Kindergarten when we signed the lease – and she is in her last year of elementary school this year. It has been a huge part of my entire family’s lives. My girls do not remember how our lives were before we owned Casita.

That said – I feel in my bones that it is time for a change. It is time to reimagine and reinvent who we are yet again. Which is a feeling that I have swept under the rug for as long as I possibly can. So today we continue our sale. And tomorrow we pack it up and patch the walls and maybe we etch our names into a beam in the basement. Because when you get to the end of a chapter you should never be afraid to turn the page.

Where will we go?  What will come next?  How will we change?  So many questions! These are the things I can promise you. Casita will continue. It may get a new name (KT2 Home?). It will be available online (as soon as our new site is finalized in February) and we will also continue to sell to you all at our seasonal sales in the barn we are in the process of designing and building. We will continue to source unique vintage finds, and the best fair trade global wares we can get our hands on. And soon enough we will open our doors to you and give you our warmest welcome. I will bake snickerdoodles, and serve mimosas, and it will be grand. So you all just have to trust me, sit tight while we hibernate, and come join us for our renaissance as soon as we are up and running.

And finally, a huge thank you. To everybody who helped us get here, who shopped here, who stopped by for a chat, or brought me a latte. Owning a store had been a dream of mine for so many years, and you all made my dream a reality.
